The Index of Industrial Production (IIP) is a composite indicator that measures the changes in the volume of production of a basket of industrial products during a given period with respect to the volume of production in a chosen base period. The Index of Industrial Production (IIP) currently has 2004-05 as base year.
Coke; refined petroleum products and nuclear fuel category has a weightage of 67.15 in IIP. It accounts for the 8.89% of the total Manufacturing Sector (with weight of 755.27 in IIP) and 6.72% of the entire IIP (having total weight of 1000). It has increased from 100.64 in the year 2005-2006 to 143.52 in the year 2013-14. It has shown total increase of 42.88 points during the period from 2005-06 to 2013-14. The average annual growth in the index from 2005-06 to 2013-14 was 5.36 points.
Chemicals and chemical products category has a weightage of 100.59 in IIP. It accounts for the 13.32% of the total Manufacturing Sector (with weight of 755.27 in IIP) and 10.06% of the entire IIP (having total weight of 1000). It has increased from 101.02 in the year 2005-2006 to 138.64 in the year 2013-14. It has shown total increase of 37.62 points during the period from 2005-06 to 2013-14. The average annual growth in the index from 2005-06 to 2013-14 was 4.7 points.
Rubber and plastics products category has a weightage of 20.25 in IIP. It accounts for the 2.68% of the total Manufacturing Sector (with weight of 755.27 in IIP) and 2.03% of the entire IIP (having total weight of 1000). It has increased from 112.26 in the year 2005-2006 to 181.11 in the year 2013-14. It has shown total increase of 68.85 points during the period from 2005-06 to 2013-14. The average annual growth in the index from 2005-06 to 2013-14 was 8.61 points.
Other non-metallic mineral products category has a weightage of 43.14 in IIP. It accounts for the 5.71% of the total Manufacturing Sector (with weight of 755.27 in IIP) and 4.31% of the entire IIP (having total weight of 1000). It has increased from 107.81 in the year 2005-2006 to 163.3 in the year 2013-14. It has shown total increase of 55.49 points during the period from 2005-06 to 2013-14. The average annual growth in the index from 2005-06 to 2013-14 was 6.94 points.
