Due to frequent floods every year in the country, there is a huge loss of human lives and animals, damage to houses and crops. The number of houses damaged due to floods in India was 3959191 during 2015. It has decreased by -93% to 278240 in 2016 above 2015. During 2017, it has increased by 314.4% to 1152959 in comparison to 2016.
Value of damaged houses was Rs. 9185.75 crores due to floods in India during 2017, up by 7910.2% against Rs. 114.676 crore during 2016. We have observed annual decline of -98.6% in value of houses damaged due to floods in India during 2016 above 2015 from Rs. 8046.969 crores.
