The Indian Shipping Sector has shown lackadaisical growth in overseas fleet from the year 2010 to the year 2014 in terms of the number of vessels. The total number of vessels in overseas fleet in India was 340 in the year 2010. The total number of vessels in overseas fleet increased to 358 as on 31st December 2014. Though, it shows some growth from point to point comparison angle; yet year-wise analysis reveals that total number of vessels in overseas fleet attained a peak of 372 in the year 2011 and thereafter slid to 350 in the year 2012.
The total number of vessels in the overseas fleet in the year 2010 was 340. In terms of the age group, the number of vessels in the overseas fleet in upto 5 years age group was 101 vessels; 6-10 years was 30 vessels; 11-15 years was 33 vessels; 16 – 20 years was 51 vessels and over 20 years was 125 vessels. The total number of vessels in the overseas fleet in the year 2011 was 372. In terms of the age group, the number of vessels in the overseas fleet in upto 5 years was 116 vessels; 6-10 years was 39 vessels; 11-15 years was 35 vessels; 16 – 20 years was 54 vessels and over 20 years was 128 vessels. The total number of vessels in the overseas fleet in the year 2012 was 350. In terms of the age group, the number of vessels in the overseas fleet in upto 5 years was 115 vessels; 6-10 years was 49 vessels; 11-15 years was 35 vessels; 16 – 20 years was 45 vessels and over 20 years was 106 vessels.
The total number of vessels in the overseas fleet in the year 2013 was 364. In terms of the age group, the number of vessels in the overseas fleet in upto 5 years was 124 vessels; 6-10 years was 54 vessels; 11-15 years was 36 vessels; 16 – 20 years was 37 vessels and over 20 years was 113 vessels. The total number of vessels in the overseas fleet in the year 2014 was 358. In terms of the age group, the number of vessels in the overseas fleet in upto 5 years was 104 vessels; 6-10 years was 64 vessels; 11-15 years was 37 vessels; 16 – 20 years was 39 vessels and over 20 years was 114 vessels.
