To encourage wind power generation in the country, Government provides various fiscal and financial incentives including Accelerated Depreciation (AD), concessional Custom, Excise and Special Additional Duties, 100% Foreign Direct Investment through automatic route, etc.
Gross Power Generation from Wind Energy source in India was 23352.85 MU during 2011-12. It has increased by 36.95% to 31982.11 MU during 2012-13 over 2011-12. Total Gross Power Generation in the country including Import from Bhutan was 876886.53 MU during 2011-12 and 912056.7 MU during 2012-13. Percentage of Wind Power Generation contribution to Total power Generation in the country including Import from Bhutan was 2.66% and 3.51% during 2011-12 and 2012-13 respectively.
We have observed an annual growth of 8.01% in Gross Power Generation from Wind Energy source in India to 33768.3 MU during 2014-15 versus 31264.8 MU during 2013-14. Total Gross Power Generation in the country including Import from Bhutan was 967150.32 MU and 1048672.97 MU during 2013-14 and 2014-15 respectively. Percentage of Wind Power Generation contribution to Total power Generation in the country including Import from Bhutan was 3.23% and 3.22% during 2013-14 and 2014-15 respectively.
Gross Power Generation from Wind Energy source in India was 28430.65 MU during 2015-16 (till December 2015). Percentage of Wind Power Generation contribution to Total power Generation in the country including Import from Bhutan was 3.42% during 2015-16 (till December 2015).
