Funds Remitted by Resident Indian Individuals under Liberalised Remittance Scheme from 2015-16 to 2018-19

Funds remitted by resident Indian individuals under Liberalised Remittance Scheme (LRS) for various purposes namely Deposit, Purchase of Immovable Property and Investment during 2015-16 to 2018-19.

Fund of US$ 109.88 million was remitted by resident Indian individuals under LRS for Deposit purpose during 2015-16. It has increased by 158.28% to US$ 283.8 million during 2016-17 above 2015-16. Annual growth of 46.21% has been seen in remittance of fund by resident Indian individuals under LRS for Deposit purpose to US$ 414.94 million during 2017-18 against 2016-17. The fund remitted by resident Indian individuals under LRS for Deposit purpose was US$ 292.44 million during 2018-19 (up to Dec 2018).

We have observed annual growth of 2.32% in remittance of fund by resident Indian individuals under LRS for purchase of immovable property purpose during 2016-17 from US$ 90.81 million during 2015-16. The amount of funds remitted by resident Indian individuals under LRS for purchase of immovable property purpose was US$ 89.61 million during 2017-18, down by -3.56% versus US$ 92.92 million during 2016-17. Fund of US$ 64.62 million was remitted by resident Indian individuals under LRS for purchase of immovable property purpose during 2018-19 (up to Dec 2018).

Fund of US$ 317.88 million was remitted by resident Indian individuals under LRS for Investment purpose during 2015-16. It has increased by 39.56% to US$ 443.63 million during 2016-17 above 2015-16. Annual decline of 41 basis points has been observed in remittance of fund by resident Indian individuals under LRS for Investment purpose to US$ 441.8 million during 2017-18 against 2016-17. The fund remitted by resident Indian individuals under LRS for Investment purpose was US$ 297.07 million during 2018-19 (up to Dec 2018).
