Funds Released for Implementing Schemes for Promotion & Development of Handlooms and Welfare of Handloom Weavers in India from 2015-16 to 2017-18

Government of India, Ministry of Textiles is implementing various schemes for promotion & development of handlooms and welfare of handloom weavers across the country. The names of such schemes are National Handloom Development Programme (NHDP), Comprehensive Handloom Cluster Development Scheme (CHCDS), Handloom Weavers’ Comprehensive Welfare Scheme (HWCWS) and Yarn Supply Scheme (YSS).

Release of fund under NHDP was Rs. 133.96 crore during 2015-16. It has increased by 14.6% in 2016-17 above 2015-16. We have seen annual decline of -12.1% in release of fund under NHDP from Rs. 153.56 crore during 2016-17 to Rs. 135.05 core during 2017-18. Fund released under CHCDS was Rs. 37.26 crore during 2015-16. It has increased by 7.6% during 2016-17 above 2015-16. Release of fund under CHCDS was Rs. 31.82 crore during 2017-18, down by -20.7% against Rs. 40.11 crore during 2016-17.

Release of fund under HWCWS was Rs. 18.61 crore during 2015-16. It has increased by 42.7% in 2016-17 above 2015-16. Annual de-growth of -5.9% has been found in release of fund under HWCWS to Rs. 24.98 core during 2017-18 from Rs. 26.56 crore during 2016-17. Fund released under YSS was Rs. 321.96 crore during 2015-16. It has decreased by -18.8% during 2016-17 above 2015-16. Release of fund under YSS was Rs. 199.84 crore during 2017-18, down by -23.5% versus Rs. 261.35 crore during 2016-17.
