Fund Released for Widows and Destitute Women under Swadhar Scheme from 2012-13 to 2014-15

The Swadhar scheme was launched by the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development in 2002 for rehabilitation of women in difficult circumstances. The scheme provides shelter, food, clothing and care to the marginalized women/girls who are in need. The beneficiaries include widows deserted by their families and relatives, women prisoners released from jail and without family support, women survivors of natural disasters, women victims of terrorist/extremist violence etc. The implementing agencies are mainly NGOs.

The amount of funds released for widows and destitute women under Swadhar scheme in India was Rs. 1660.32 lakhs in 2014-15. It decreased by Rs. -702.83 lakhs as compared to the year 2012-13. There were 11 states with amount of funds released for widows and destitute women under Swadhar scheme of more than Rs. 50 lakhs in 2014-15 viz.  Maharashtra, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, West Bengal and Uttarakhand.

The amount of funds released for widows and destitute women under Swadhar scheme in Maharashtra was Rs. 279.06 lakhs in 2014-15. It decreased by Rs. -41.96 lakhs as compared to the year 2012-13. The amount of funds released for widows and destitute women under Swadhar scheme in Karnataka was Rs. 268.04 lakhs in 2014-15. It decreased by Rs. -25.13 lakhs as compared to the year 2012-13.

The amount of funds released for widows and destitute women under Swadhar scheme in Uttar Pradesh was Rs. 247.03 lakhs in 2014-15. It decreased by Rs. -155.7 lakhs as compared to the year 2012-13. The amount of funds released for widows and destitute women under Swadhar scheme in Assam was Rs. 128.91 lakhs in 2014-15. It increased by Rs. 15.95 lakhs as compared to the year 2012-13.

The amount of funds released for widows and destitute women under Swadhar scheme in Manipur was Rs. 106.63 lakhs in 2014-15. It decreased by Rs. -58.51 lakhs as compared to the year 2012-13. The amount of funds released for widows and destitute women under Swadhar scheme in Odisha was Rs. 104.86 lakhs in 2014-15. It decreased by Rs. -361.1 lakhs as compared to the year 2012-13.

The amount of funds released for widows and destitute women under Swadhar scheme in Andhra Pradesh was Rs. 93.78 lakhs (an increase of Rs. 5.27 lakhs over 2012-13). The amount of funds released for widows and destitute women under Swadhar scheme in Madhya Pradesh was Rs. 76.12 lakhs (a decrease of Rs. -50.81 lakhs over 2012-13). The amount of funds released for widows and destitute women under Swadhar scheme in Telangana was Rs. 74.85 lakhs. The amount of funds released for widows and destitute women under Swadhar scheme in West Bengal was Rs. 74.18 lakhs (an increase of Rs. 0.45 lakhs over 2012-13). The amount of funds released for widows and destitute women under Swadhar scheme in Uttarakhand was Rs. 60.91 lakhs (an increase of Rs. 12.52 lakhs over 2012-13).
