Functioning District Hospitals as on 31st March 2015

The number of functioning district hospitals in India was 763 as on 31st March, 2015. The top 10 States/UTs in terms of the number of functioning district hospitals were: Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Bihar, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh and Assam as on 31st March, 2015.

The number of functioning district hospitals in Uttar Pradesh was 160 as on 31st March, 2015. It accounted for 20.97% of the number of functioning district hospitals in India as on 31st March, 2015. The number of functioning district hospitals in Madhya Pradesh was 51 as on 31st March, 2015. It accounted for 6.68% of the number of functioning district hospitals in India as on 31st March, 2015. The number of functioning district hospitals in Delhi was 41 as on 31st March, 2015. It accounted for 5.37% of the number of functioning district hospitals in India as on 31st March, 2015. The number of functioning district hospitals in Bihar was 36 as on 31st March, 2015. It accounted for 4.72% of the number of functioning district hospitals in India as on 31st March, 2015. The number of functioning district hospitals in Rajasthan was 34 as on 31st March, 2015. It accounted for 4.46% of the number of functioning district hospitals in India as on 31st March, 2015.

These top 5 states accounted for 42.2% of the total number of functioning district hospitals in India as a whole as on 31st March, 2015.

The number of functioning district hospitals in Karnataka was 32 as on 31st March, 2015 (4.19% of All India). The number of functioning district hospitals in Odisha was 32 as on 31st March, 2015 (4.19% of All India). The number of functioning district hospitals in Tamil Nadu was 31 as on 31st March, 2015 (4.06% of All India). The number of functioning district hospitals in Chhattisgarh was 27 as on 31st March, 2015 (3.54% of All India). The number of functioning district hospitals in Assam was 25 as on 31st March, 2015 (3.28% of All India).

The above mentioned top 10 states accounted for 61.46% of the total number of functioning district hospitals in India as a whole as on 31st March, 2015.
