Female Inmates Capacity of District Jails at the end of 2015

The female inmate capacity of district jails in India was 8594 at the end of the year 2015. There were 12 states having female inmate capacity of district jails of more than 200 viz. Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Assam, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Punjab and Telangana at the end of the year 2015.

The female inmate capacity of district jails in Uttar Pradesh was 2635 at the end of the year 2015. It accounted for 6.09% of the total inmate capacity of district jails in Uttar Pradesh at the end of the year 2015. The female inmate capacity of district jails in Haryana was 1247 at the end of the year 2015. It accounted for 8.83% of the total inmate capacity of district jails in Haryana at the end of the year 2015.

The female inmate capacity of district jails in Madhya Pradesh was 628 at the end of the year 2015. It accounted for 7.16% of the total inmate capacity of district jails in Madhya Pradesh at the end of the year 2015. The female inmate capacity of district jails in Bihar was 599 at the end of the year 2015. It accounted for 3.24% of the total inmate capacity of district jails in Bihar at the end of the year 2015.

The female inmate capacity of district jails in Assam was 363 at the end of the year 2015 (9.47% of total inmate capacity). The female inmate capacity of district jails in Maharashtra was 334 at the end of the year 2015 (4.81% of total inmate capacity). The female inmate capacity of district jails in Karnataka was 309 at the end of the year 2015 (8% of total inmate capacity).
