Expenditure on Livestock Development and Livestock Health & Disease Control during 2013-14 and 2014-15

There are a number of centrally sponsored schemes for the development and promotion of animal husbandry sector by the Government of India. Two major centrally sponsored schemes for animal husbandry are National Project for Livestock Development (NPLD) and Livestock Health and Disease Control (LHDC).

The budgeted expenditure in 2013-14 on National Project for Livestock Development was Rs. 233.91 crores. The actual expenditure in 2013-14 on National Project for Livestock Development was Rs. 148.46 crores. It was 63.47% of budgeted expenditure in 2013-14.

The budgeted expenditure in 2014-15 on National Project for Livestock Development was Rs. 188.93 crores. The actual expenditure in 2014-15 (up to 31.12.2014) on National Project for Livestock Development was Rs. 142.15 crores. It was 75.24% of budgeted expenditure in 2013-14.

The budgeted expenditure in 2013-14 on Livestock Health and Disease Control was Rs. 458.98 crores. The actual expenditure in 2013-14 on Livestock Health and Disease Control was Rs. 394.53 crores. It was 85.96% of budgeted expenditure in 2013-14.

The budgeted expenditure in 2014-15 on Livestock Health and Disease Control was Rs. 459 crores. The actual expenditure in 2014-15 (up to 31.12.2014) on Livestock Health and Disease Control was Rs. 297.81 crores. It was 64.88% of budgeted expenditure in 2013-14.

Thus, it can be inferred from the foregone analysis, that the actual expenditure incurred on these schemes has been less than the budgeted expenditure except actual expenditure in 2014-15 on National Project for Livestock Development (keeping in view that this expenditure is for first three quarters of the financial year).
