Estimates of production of milk in India during 1950-51 to 2012-13

The total milk production in India was 17 million tonnes during the year 1950-51. The total milk production in India was 20 million tonnes during the year 1960-61. It increased by 3 million tonnes as compared to the year 1950-51. In percentage terms, the growth was 17.65% during the period. The total milk production in India was 31.6 million tonnes during the year 1980-81. It increased by 11.6 million tonnes as compared to the year 1960-61. In percentage terms, the growth was 58% during the period. The total milk production in India was 53.9 million tonnes during the year 1990-91. It increased by 22.3 million tonnes as compared to the year 1980-81. In percentage terms, the growth was 70.57% during the period. This was the highest decadal growth rate.

The total milk production in India was 80.6 million tonnes during the year 2000-01. It increased by 26.7 million tonnes as compared to the year 1990-91. In percentage terms, the growth was 49.54% during the period. The total milk production in India was 121.8 million tonnes during the year 2010-11. It increased by 41.2 million tonnes as compared to the year 2000-01. This was the highest decadal growth in absolute terms. In percentage terms, the growth was 51.12% during the period.

The total milk production in India was 127.9 million tonnes during the year 2011-12. It increased by 6.1 million tonnes as compared to the year 2010-11. In percentage terms, the growth was 5.01% during the period. The total milk production in India was 132.4 million tonnes during the year 2012-13. It increased by 4.5 million tonnes as compared to the year 2011-12. In percentage terms, the growth was 3.52% during the period.
