Estimates of Buffalo Milk Production across India during 2007-08 to 2011-12

India has witnessed an increasing trend in estimates of buffalo milk production during 2007-2012. In 2007-08, buffalo milk production was 56630 thousand tonnes across the country, which increased to 65352 thousand tonnes in 2011-12. Highest buffalo milk production (15549 thousand tonnes) was in Uttar Pradesh in 2011-12 followed by 12957 thousand tonnes in in 2007-08 as compared to other states.

The lowest buffalo milk production (0.01 thousand tonnes) was in Mizoram in 2011-12 and 0.1 thousand tonnes in Sikkim in 2007-08 and as compared to other states.

Note: Sikkim, Dadar & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu and Delhi figures from 2007-08 onwards are estimated based on the number of animals in milk as per livestock census 2007. Totals may not tally due to rounding off of the figures.
