Drought Affected Districts under MGNREGA during 2015-16

There were 248 drought affected districts in ten large states in India. Employment opportunities related to various works were being provided in these drought affected districts under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) during 2015-2016.

The total number of districts in Andhra Pradesh during 2015-16 was 13. The number of drought affected districts in Andhra Pradesh was 10 during 2015-16. Thus, the percentage of number of drought affected districts to total number of districts was 76.92% during 2015-16. The total number of districts in Chhattisgarh during 2015-16 was 27. The number of drought affected districts in Chhattisgarh was 22 during 2015-16. Thus, the percentage of number of drought affected districts to total number of districts was 81.48% during 2015-16.

The total number of districts in Jharkhand during 2015-16 was 24. The number of drought affected districts in Jharkhand was 24 during 2015-16. Thus, the percentage of number of drought affected districts to total number of districts was 100% during 2015-16 i.e. all the districts in Jharkhand were drought affected.
The total number of districts in Karnataka during 2015-16 was 30. The number of drought affected districts in Karnataka was 27 during 2015-16. Thus, the percentage of number of drought affected districts to total number of districts was 90% during 2015-16. The total number of districts in Madhya Pradesh during 2015-16 was 51. The number of drought affected districts in Madhya Pradesh was 42 during 2015-16. Thus, the percentage of number of drought affected districts to total number of districts was 82.35% during 2015-16.

The total number of districts in Maharashtra during 2015-16 was 34. The number of drought affected districts in Maharashtra was 21 during 2015-16. Thus, the percentage of number of drought affected districts to total number of districts was 61.76% during 2015-16. The total number of districts in Odisha during 2015-16 was 30. The number of drought affected districts in Odisha was 26 during 2015-16. Thus, the percentage of number of drought affected districts to total number of districts was 86.67% during 2015-16. The total number of districts in Rajasthan during 2015-16 was 33. The number of drought affected districts in Rajasthan was 19 during 2015-16. Thus, the percentage of number of drought affected districts to total number of districts was 57.58% during 2015-16.

The total number of districts in Telangana during 2015-16 was 9. The number of drought affected districts in Telangana was 7 during 2015-16. Thus, the percentage of number of drought affected districts to total number of districts was 77.78% during 2015-16. The total number of districts in Uttar Pradesh during 2015-16 was 75. The number of drought affected districts in Uttar Pradesh was 50 during 2015-16. Thus, the percentage of number of drought affected districts to total number of districts was 66.67% during 2015-16.
