Contributions made to National Sports Development Fund (NSDF) from corporate (both public sector and private sector) for promotion and development of sports in India was Rs. 4226.72 lacs during 2016-17, up by 3131% against 130.82 lacs during 2015-16; whereas it was Rs. 1000 lacs during 2014-15. The top 5 donors in terms of contributions made to NSDF from corporate for promotion and development of sports in India during 2016-17 were Coal India Ltd, India Infrastructure Finance Company Limited (IIFCL), Bharat Dynamics Ltd, State Bank of India and The New India Assurance Co Ltd.
During 2016-17, Coal India Ltd contributed Rs. 2500 lacs to NSDF for promotion and development of sports in India during 2016-17. It accounted 59.15% of the total contributions made to NSDF from corporate for promotion and development of sports in India during the same year. There was a contribution of Rs. 1000 lacs by IIFCL to NSDF for promotion and development of sports in India during 2016-17, which accounted 23.66% of the total contributions made to NSDF from corporate for promotion and development of sports in India during 2016-17. An amount of Rs. 225 lacs was contributed by Bharat Dynamics Ltd to NSDF for promotion and development of sports in India during 2016-17. It accounted 5.32% of the total contributions made to NSDF from corporate for promotion and development of sports in India during the same year.
State Bank of India and The New India Assurance Co Ltd contributed Rs. 100 lacs each to NSDF for promotion and development of sports in India during 2016-17. The above mentioned top 5 donors accounted for 92.86% of the total contributions made to NSDF from corporate for promotion and development of sports in India as a whole during 2016-17.
