Domestic tourism is a tourism involving residents of one country traveling only within that country. Tamil Nadu, a South Indian state, is famous for its Dravidian-style Hindu temples and other important tourist attractions throughout.
Based on the Time Series data published in Statistical Hand Book 2018 by the Department of Economics and Statistics, it is found that the arrival of Domestic Tourists in Tamil Nadu is getting increased year after year.
The graph shown below clearly exhibits the rise in number of Domestic Tourists arrival in Tamil Nadu over a period of 16 years, from 2001 to 2016.
The number of Domestic Tourists arrived was 2.38 Crores in the year 2001, which has been substantially increased to 34.38 Crores in the year 2016.
