Disposal of cases and persons held under Crime Against Schedule Tribes during 2013

Cases registered under crime against schedule tribes during 2013 in the entire country were 6793. Cases chargesheeted under crime against schedule tribes during 2013 in the entire country were 4736. It was 69.72% of the total cases registered. Cases convicted under crime against schedule tribes during 2013 in the entire country were 534. It was 7.86% of the total cases registered and 11.28% of the total cases charge-sheeted. Persons arrested under crime against schedule tribes during 2013 in the entire country were 9275. Persons chargesheeted under crime against schedule tribes during 2013 in the entire country were 8964. It was 96.65% of the total persons arrested. Persons convicted under crime against schedule tribes during 2013 in the entire country were 1100. It was 11.86% of the total persons arrested and 12.27% of the total persons chargesheeted. The cases registered & cases convicted according to the crime head are: SC/ST (POA) Act – 1390 cases registered & 58 cases convicted. Conviction was 4.17% of the total cases registered. Hurt – 930 cases registered & 85 cases convicted. Conviction was 9.14% of the total cases registered. Rape – 847 cases registered & 108 cases convicted. Conviction was 12.75% of the total cases registered. Kidnapping & Abduction – 130 cases registered & 14 cases convicted.

Conviction was 10.77% of the total cases registered. Murder – 122 cases registered & 33 cases convicted. Conviction was 27.05% of the total cases registered. Arson – 33 cases registered & 2 cases convicted. Conviction was 6.06% of the total cases registered. Protection of Civil Rights Act – 25 cases registered & 0 cases convicted. Conviction was 0% of the total cases registered. Dacoity – 8 cases registered & 0 cases convicted. Conviction was 0% of the total cases registered. Robbery – 7 cases registered & 1 case convicted. Conviction was 14.29% of the total cases registered. Other Crimes Against STs – 3301 cases registered & 233 cases convicted. Conviction was 7.06% of the total cases registered.
