Disbursement of Education Loans by Scheduled Commercial Banks during 2014-15 to 2017-18

As per Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the number of education loans disbursed by the Scheduled Commercial Banks (SCBs) was 752647 during 2014-15. It has increased by 4.47% to 786279 during 2015-16 above 2014-15. We have seen annual growth of 34.26% in disbursement of education loan by the SCBs, as per RBI from Rs. 10007.53 crore during 2014-15 to Rs. 13435.86 crore during 2015-16.

The number of education loans disbursed by the SCBs was 898545 during 2017-18, up by 32.08% versus 680286 during 2016-17. Annual growth of 20.5% has been observed in amount of education loan disbursed by the SCBs, as per RBI to Rs. 14734.67 crore during 2017-18 against Rs. 12227.62 crore during 2016-17.

Maximum of 898545 found in 2017-18 and minimum of 680286 seen in 2016-17 in number of education loans disbursed during the period under consideration. Maximum of Rs. 14734.67 crore found in 2017-18 and minimum of Rs. 10007.53 crore observed in 2014-15 in disbursement of education loan amount during the period under consideration.
