Deaths in Traffic Accidents during 2014

The total number of deaths in traffic accidents in India was 169107 during 2014. The top 10 states/UTs in terms of deaths in traffic accidents in India during 2014 were: Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Gujarat and Telangana.

The total number of deaths in traffic accidents in Uttar Pradesh was 20653 during 2014, which was 12.21% of the total number of deaths in traffic accidents in India during the year. The total number of deaths in traffic accidents in Maharashtra was 18574 during 2014, which was 10.98% of the total number of deaths in traffic accidents in India during the year. The total number of deaths in traffic accidents in Tamil Nadu was 17023 during 2014, which was 10.07% of the total number of deaths in traffic accidents in India during the year.

The total number of deaths in traffic accidents in Madhya Pradesh was 11312 during 2014, which was 6.69% of the total number of deaths in traffic accidents in India during the year. The total number of deaths in traffic accidents in Rajasthan was 10958 during 2014, which was 6.48% of the total number of deaths in traffic accidents in India during the year. In fact, these top 5 states accounted for almost half i.e. 46.43% of the total number of deaths in traffic accidents in India during 2014.
