Crop-wise Increase/ Decrease in All India Weighted Average Cost of Production of Kharif Crops during 2016-17 to 2018-19 over its previous year

Various Kharif crops namely Paddy (common), Jowar (hybrid), Bajra, Ragi, Maize, Arhar (tur), Moong, Urad, Groundnut in shell, Sunflower seed, Soyabean, Sesamum, Niger seed and Cotton (medium staple) were cultivated during 2016-17 to 2018-19.

During 2017-18, various Kharif crops has been seen with per quintal increase of Rs. 100 or more in All India weighted average cost of production, i.e., Ragi, Moong, Soyabean, Niger seed, and Cotton (medium staple). Ragi, Moong, Soyabean, Niger seed and Cotton (medium staple) has increased by Rs. 128, Rs. 221, Rs. 269, Rs. 546 and Rs. 387 per quintal respectively in All India weighted average cost of production during 2017-18 over 2016-17. Among all the Kharif crops, Sunflower seed is the only one which has been found with less than Rs. 10 per quintal increase in All India weighted average cost of production during 2017-18 over previous year, i.e., Rs. 2. We have observed per quintal decrease of Rs. -319, Rs. -212 and Rs. -121 in All India weighted average cost of production of Kharif crops namely Urad, Groundnut in shell and Sesamum respectively during 2017-18 over 2016-17.

During 2018-19, various Kharif crops has been observed with per quintal increase of Rs. 100 or more in All India weighted average cost of production, i.e., Arhar (tur), Moong, Urad, Groundnut in shell, Sunflower seed, Soyabean and Cotton (medium staple). Arhar (tur), Moong, Urad, Groundnut in shell, Sunflower seed, Soyabean and Cotton (medium staple) has increased by Rs. 114, Rs. 364, Rs. 173, Rs. 101, Rs. 111, Rs. 145, Rs. 157 per quintal respectively in All India weighted average cost of production during 2018-19 over 2017-18. Among all the Kharif crops, Niger seed is the only one which has been found with less than Rs. 10 per quintal increase in All India weighted average cost of production during 2018-19 over its previous year, i.e., Rs. 6. Other Kharif crops namely Paddy (common), Jowar (hybrid), Bajra, Ragi, Maize and Sesamum has been seen with per quintal increase of Rs. 49, Rs. 63, Rs. 41, Rs. 70, Rs. 87 and Rs. 99 respectively in All India weighted average cost of production of Kharif crops during 2018-19 over previous year.
