Crime Head-wise Persons Arrested under IT Act Offences of Cyber Crime during 2016

There were 5964 persons arrested under Offences under IT Act of Cyber Crime during 2016, out of which 5879 (98.57%) were male and 85 (1.43%) were female. During 2016, 66 persons were arrested under ‘Tampering computer source documents’ Crime head under IT Act Offences; out of which 65 were male and 1 was female. This Crime head has 1.3% weightage of the total persons arrested under Offences under IT Act of Cyber Crime during 2016. During 2016, 4674 persons were arrested under ‘Computer Related Offences (Section 66 and Section 66B to 66E)’ Crime head under IT Act Offences; out of which 4617 were male and 57 were female. This Crime head has 75.6% weightage of the total persons arrested under Offences under IT Act of Cyber Crime during 2016.

During 2016, 7 persons were arrested under ‘Cyber Terrorism (Section 66F)’ Crime head under IT Act Offences; out of which 7 were male and 0 was female. This Crime head has 0.2% weightage of the total persons arrested under Offences under IT Act of Cyber Crime during 2016. During 2016, 829 persons were arrested under ‘Publication/Transmission of Obscene/Sexually Explicit Content’ Crime head under IT Act Offences; out of which 811 were male and 18 were female. This Crime head has 14.1% weightage of the total persons arrested under Offences under IT Act of Cyber Crime during 2016.

During 2016, 37 persons were arrested under ‘Breach of Confidentiality/Privacy & Disclosure of Information in Breach of Lawful Contract’ Crime head under IT Act Offences; out of which 35 were male and 2 were female. This Crime head has 0.7% weightage of the total persons arrested under Offences under IT Act of Cyber Crime during 2016. During 2016, 351 persons were arrested under ‘Others’ Crime head under IT Act Offences; out of which 344 were male and 7 were female. This Crime head has 8.1% weightage of the total persons arrested under Offences under IT Act of Cyber Crime during 2016.
