Crime Head-wise Conviction Rate against Senior Citizen Cases during 2016

Conviction Rate of 35.9% has been observed during 2016 under IPC Crimes against Senior Citizen in India. There were 5831 Cases in which Trials were completed out of which 2096 Cases Convicted during 2016 under IPC Crimes against Senior Citizen. ‘Culpable Homicide not Amounting to Murder’ Crime head had the maximum Conviction Rate i.e., 40% against Senior Citizen Cases during 2016, followed by Murder, Robbery, Other IPC Crimes, Grievous Hurt, Attempt to Commit Murder, Cheating, Attempt to Commit Culpable Homicide, Rape, Extortion and Dacoity. Under ‘Culpable Homicide not Amounting to Murder’ Crime head there were 5 Cases in which Trials were completed out of which 2 Cases Convicted during 2016 under IPC Crimes against Senior Citizen.

‘Murder’ Crime head had the Conviction Rate of 38.5% against Senior Citizen Cases during 2016. Under ‘Murder’ Crime head there were 317 Cases in which Trials were completed out of which 122 Cases Convicted during 2016 under IPC Crimes against Senior Citizen. ‘Robbery’ Crime head had the Conviction Rate of 38.1% against Senior Citizen Cases during 2016. Under ‘Robbery’ Crime head there were 134 Cases in which Trials were completed out of which 51 Cases Convicted during 2016 under IPC Crimes against Senior Citizen.

Conviction rate of 37.2%, 26.5%, 22.5%, 18.9%, 14.3%, 12.5%, 7.7% and 0% has been seen under various Crime heads of IPC Crimes against Senior Citizen like Other IPC Crimes, Grievous Hurt, Attempt to Commit Murder, Cheating, Attempt to Commit Culpable Homicide, Rape, Extortion and Dacoity respectively during 2016.

Note: Other IPC Crimes includes Simple Hurt, Assault, Snatching, Wrongful Restraint, Criminal Intimidation etc.
