Corona Virus (COVID 19), the infectious disease, spreads primarily through droplets of saliva or discharge from the nose, when an infected person coughs or sneezes. The best way to prevent and slow down the transmission is to protect yourself and others from infection, by washing off your hands frequently either by soap or using a sanitizer, not touching your face and following social distancing guidelines.

Covishield and Covaxin, are the vaccines recommended by the Government of India, for use currently to the eligible people/beneficiaries to fight against the spread of COVID-19.  The minor and temporary adverse symptoms, such as headache, fever, fatigue or pain at the injection site are common after the vaccination. People should seek medical attention, if one experiences any persistent, new or worsening symptoms.

The Department of Public Health and Preventive Medicine is bringing out the daily status report on the COVID-19 vaccination, Health unit Districts wise in Tamil Nadu, which is published in the TNOGD portal. Based on this data, the graph arrived below, explains the health unit districts wise, comparison between the number of beneficiaries vaccinated with 1st and 2nd doses of Covishield and Covaxin in Tamil Nadu as on 30th June 2021.

From the graph, it is clear that, most of the beneficiaries have been vaccinated with Covishield rather than Covaxin, and the Chennai District leads in the vaccination to the beneficiaries followed by other districts. The graph also indicates the pattern of vaccination for the 1st and the 2nd doses given to the beneficiaries.
