Consumption of Light Distillate Petroleum Products from 2011-12 to 2017-18

We have seen compound annual growth rate of 6.86% in consumption of total light distillate petroleum products during 2011-12 to 2017-18. Consumption of total light distillate petroleum products was 65322 thousand tonnes during 2017-18, up by 6.32% against 61441 thousand tonnes during 2016-17. Light distillate petroleum products namely LPG, Motor Spirit, Naphtha and others were consumed during 2011-12 to 2017-18. Out of consumption of total light distillate petroleum products during 2017-18; LPG, Motor Spirit, Naphtha and other petroleum products had weight of 35.74%, 40.07%, 19.21% and 4.98% respectively.

Consumption of LPG products was 15350 thousand tonnes in 2011-12. It has increased by 164 basis points to 15601 thousand tonnes during 2012-13 above 2011-12. Annual growth of 10.12% has been observed in 2016-17 in consumption of LPG products from 19623 thousand tonnes during 2015-16. Consumption of LPG products was 23343 thousand tonnes during 2017-18, up by 8.03% versus 21608 thousand tonnes during 2016-17.

Consumption of Motor Spirit products was 14992 thousand tonnes in 2011-12. It has increased by 5.02% to 15744 thousand tonnes during 2012-13 above 2011-12. We have seen annual growth of 8.78% in 2016-17 in consumption of Motor Spirit products from 21847 thousand tonnes during 2015-16. Consumption of Motor Spirit products was 26175 thousand tonnes during 2017-18, up by 10.14% against 23765 thousand tonnes during 2016-17.

Consumption of Naphtha products was 11222 thousand tonnes in 2011-12. It has increased by 9.51% to 12289 thousand tonnes during 2012-13 above 2011-12. Annual decline of -23 basis points has been observed in 2016-17 in consumption of Naphtha products from 13271 thousand tonnes during 2015-16. Consumption of Naphtha products was 12549 thousand tonnes during 2017-18, down by -5.23% versus 13241 thousand tonnes during 2016-17.

Consumption of other light distillate petroleum products was 2306 thousand tonnes in 2011-12. It has increased by 14.44% to 2639 thousand tonnes during 2012-13 above 2011-12. We have seen annual de-growth of -5.83% in 2016-17 in consumption of other light distillate petroleum products from 3002 thousand tonnes during 2015-16. Consumption of other light distillate petroleum products was 3254 thousand tonnes during 2017-18, up by 15.1% against 2827 thousand tonnes during 2016-17.
