Category-wise Manpower Employed in Oil & Gas Central Public Sector Enterprises as on 31st March, 2018

The number of manpower employed in Oil & Gas Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) was 107872 as on 31st March, 2018. Out of these 107872 employments as on 31.03.2018; 59884 (55.51%) employment was in Executive/Managerial category, 7480 (6.93%) employment was in Supervisory category, 6329 (5.87%) employment was in Clerical category and 34179 (31.68%) employment was in Workmen category.

The top 3 CPSEs in terms of manpower employed as on 31st March, 2018 were IOCL with 33157 (30.74%), ONGC with 32265 (29.91%) and BPCL with 12019 (11.14%) followed by HPCL, OIL, GAIL, EIL, MRPL, CPCL, Balmer Lawrie, NRL and Biecco Lawrie with 10352, 6955, 4474, 2827, 1911, 1709, 1127, 864 and 212 employment respectively.

We have seen CPSEs like ONGC, GAIL, IOCL, BPCL, HPCL, MRPL, NRL, Balmer Lawrie and EIL in which employment in Executive/Managerial category was more than 40% of the total manpower employed in individual CPSEs as on 31.03.2018. The number of manpower employed in Executive/Managerial category was 20965 (64.98%), 3586 (80.15%), 17122 (51.64%), 5981 (49.76%), 6069 (58.63%), 818 (42.8%), 438 (50.69%), 477 (42.32%) and 2607 (92.22%) in ONGC, GAIL, IOCL, BPCL, HPCL, MRPL, NRL, Balmer Lawrie and EIL respectively as on 31st March, 2018.

CPSEs named OIL, CPCL, MRPL, NRL and Biecco Lawrie has been observed with more than 40% of the total manpower employed in Workmen category by individual CPSEs as on 31.03.2018. There were 4008 (57.63%), 819 (47.92%), 988 (51.7%), 388 (44.91%) and 151 (71.23%) employment in Workmen category in OIL, CPCL, MRPL, NRL and Biecco Lawrie respectively as on 31st March, 2018.
