Category-wise male and female student enrolment for all education institution – 2011-12 to 2012-13

Ministry of Human Resource Development had initiated an All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE) in 2011 to prepare a sound database on Higher Education in the country. The survey covers all the institutions in the country engaged in imparting the higher education. It is getting updated from the annual data submitted by the institutions. The number of male student enrolment for all education institution was 12179248 in 2011-12. It increased to 14178978 in 2012-2013, recording a growth of 1999730 in numbers (16.42%). The number of female student enrolment for all education institution was 9681868 in 2011-12. It increased to 11582708 in 2012-2013, recording a growth of 1900840 in numbers (19.63%). The total number of student enrolment for all education institution was 21861116 in 2011-12. It increased to 25761686 in 2012-2013, recording a growth of 3900570 in numbers (17.84%).

The number of SC male student enrolment for all education institution was 1494479 in 2011-12. It increased to 1777555 in 2012-2013, recording a growth of 283076 in numbers (18.94%). The number of SC female student enrolment for all education institution was 1185284 in 2011-12. It increased to 1449185 in 2012-2013, recording a growth of 263901 in numbers (22.26%). The total number of SC student enrolment for all education institution was 2679763 in 2011-12. It increased to 3226740 in 2012-2013, recording a growth of 546977 in numbers (20.41%).

The number of ST male student enrolment for all education institution was 542119 in 2011-12. It increased to 617477 in 2012-2013, recording a growth of 75358 in numbers (13.9%). The number of ST female student enrolment for all education institution was 424659 in 2011-12. It increased to 503649 in 2012-2013, recording a growth of 78990 in numbers (18.6%). The total number of ST student enrolment for all education institution was 966778 in 2011-12. It increased to 1121126 in 2012-2013, recording a growth of 154348 in numbers (15.97%).

The number of OBC male student enrolment for all education institution was 3675525 in 2011-12. It increased to 4332479 in 2012-2013, recording a growth of 656954 in numbers (17.87%). The number of OBC female student enrolment for all education institution was 3048576 in 2011-12. It increased to 3716356 in 2012-2013, recording a growth of 667780 in numbers (21.9%). The total number of OBC student enrolment for all education institution was 6724101 in 2011-12. It increased to 8048835 in 2012-2013, recording a growth of 1324734 in numbers (19.7%).
