Compound annual growth rate of 5.43% has been observed in Total Consumption of Petroleum Products in India from 2010-11 to 2016-17. Total Consumption of Petroleum Products was 141040.3 thousand tonnes in India during 2010-11. It has increased by 5.03% to 148132.1 thousand tonnes during 2011-12 over 2010-11. We have seen annual growth of 4.91% in Consumption of Petroleum Products in India to 193744.691 thousand tonnes during 2016-17 versus 184673.903 thousand tonnes during 2015-16. Maximum annual growth rate of 11.57% has been found in 2015-16 in Total Consumption of Petroleum Products in India during the period under consideration. Out of the total Consumption of 193744.691 thousand tonnes Petroleum Products during 2016-17; 61336.263 thousand tonnes (31.66%) was for Light Distillates products, 89282.569 thousand tonnes (46.08%) was for Middle Distillates products and 43125.859 thousand tonnes (22.26%) was for Heavy Ends products.

Consumption of Petroleum Products for Light Distillates category was 41444.1 thousand tonnes in India during 2010-11. It has increased by 5.85% to 43869.922 thousand tonnes during 2011-12 over 2010-11. We have observed annual growth of 6.22% in Consumption of Petroleum Products for Light Distillates category in India from 57742.822 thousand tonnes during 2015-16 to 61336.263 thousand tonnes during 2016-17.

Consumption of Petroleum Products for Middle Distillates category was 75029.6 thousand tonnes in India during 2010-11. It has increased by 5.84% to 79415.001 thousand tonnes during 2011-12 over 2010-11. Annual growth of 0.86% has been seen in Consumption of Petroleum Products for Middle Distillates category in India to 89282.569 thousand tonnes during 2016-17 versus 88517.275 thousand tonnes during 2015-16.

Consumption of Petroleum Products for Heavy Ends category was 24566.6 thousand tonnes in India during 2010-11. It has increased by 1.14% to 24847.178 thousand tonnes during 2011-12 over 2010-11. We have observed annual growth of 12.27% in Consumption of Petroleum Products for Heavy Ends category in India from 38413.806 thousand tonnes during 2015-16 to 43125.859 thousand tonnes during 2016-17.

Maximum annual growth rate of 13.35%, 6.73% and 21.4% has been seen in Consumption of Petroleum Products for Light Distillates, Middle Distillates and Heavy Ends categories respectively in India in the year 2015-16 during the period under consideration.
