Cases registered under Cyber Crimes by Suspects during 2013

The total number of cases registered under cyber crime by Suspects during year 2013 was 5693. Out of the total 5693 cases registered, 420 cases were registered under suspect of Cracker/Student/ Professional learners; 749 cases were registered under suspect of Neighbours /Friends & Relatives; and 4175 cases were registered under other suspect; 79 cases were registered under Foreign National /Group; 125 cases were registered under Disgruntled Employee/Employee; and 145 cases were registered under Business Competitor. Thus, the top 3 suspects during 2013 were Cracker/Student/Professional learners; Neighbours /Friends & Relatives; and Business Competitor.

Top 10 states with highest Number of cases registered under cyber crime by suspects were: Maharashtra with 907 cases registered, in percentage terms it was 15.93% of total cyber crime in India during 2013. Uttar Pradesh with 682 cases registered, in percentage term it was 11.98%. Andhra Pradesh with 651 cases registered in percentage term it was 11.44%. Karnataka with 533 cases registered, in percentage term it was 9.36%. Kerala with 383 cases registered, in percentage term it was 6.73%. Madhya Pradesh with 342 cases registered, in percentage term it was 6.01%. West Bengal with 342 cases registered, in percentage term it was 6.01%. Haryana with 323 cases registered, in percentage term it was 5.67%. Rajasthan with 297 cases registered, in percentage term it was 5.22%. Punjab with 156 cases registered, in percentage term it was 2.74%.

The states with no case registered under cyber Crimes by suspects during 2013 were: Mizoram; Nagaland; Sikkim; D and N Haveli; and Lakshadweep.
