Capacity of Prison Inmates in Sub Jails at the end of 2014

The total prison inmate capacity of sub jails in India was 45564 at the end of the year 2014. The top 10 states in terms of the total prison inmate capacity of sub jails were: Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, West Bengal, Gujarat and Maharashtra at the end of the year 2014.

The total prison inmate capacity of sub jails in Odisha was 10272 at the end of the year 2014. It accounted for 22.54% of the total prison inmate capacity of sub jails in India at the end of the year 2014. The total prison inmate capacity of sub jails in Madhya Pradesh was 6029 at the end of the year 2014. It accounted for 13.23% of the total prison inmate capacity of sub jails in India at the end of the year 2014. The total prison inmate capacity of sub jails in Bihar was 4012 at the end of the year 2014. It accounted for 8.81% of the total prison inmate capacity of sub jails in India at the end of the year 2014. The total prison inmate capacity of sub jails in Rajasthan was 3368 at the end of the year 2014. It accounted for 7.39% of the total prison inmate capacity of sub jails in India at the end of the year 2014. The total prison inmate capacity of sub jails in Tamil Nadu was 3100 at the end of the year 2014.
