Under Skill India Mission, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship is implementing a flagship scheme known as Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) 2016-20 with an objective to provide skilling to one crore people under Short Term Training (STT), Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Special Project (SP) across the country for four years i.e. 2016-2020.
There were 3,231,667 candidates assessed in India under PMKVY as on 24th January 2019; out of which 2,876,906 (89.02%) candidates were certified as on the same period. The top 5 States/UTs with respect to number of candidates certified under PMKVY as on 24th January 2019 were Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana and Tamil Nadu.
The number of candidates assessed in Uttar Pradesh was 510,830 under PMKVY as on 24.01.2019. Out of which, 450,975 (88.28%) candidates were certified; which accounted 15.68% of the total candidates certified in India under PMKVY as on 24th January 2019. There were 253,923 (88.84%) candidates certified in Madhya Pradesh under PMKVY as on 24th January 2019 out of assessment of 285,829 candidates. It accounted 8.83% of the total candidates certified in India under PMKVY as on the same period. As on 24th January 2019, 269,590 candidates were assessed in Rajasthan under PMKVY. Out of which, 241,921 (89.74%) candidates were certified; which accounted 8.41% of the total candidates certified in India under PMKVY as on 24.01.2019.
The number of candidates certified was 224,491 and 204,951 in Haryana and Tamil Nadu respectively under PMKVY as on 24.01.2019. Haryana accounted for 7.8% and Tamil Nadu accounted for 7.12% of the total candidates certified in India under PMKVY as on 24th January 2019.
