Buses Owned by the Public Sector in India from 2001 to 2015

The number of buses owned by the public sector was 115 thousand in 2001. The share of public sector in total buses owned in India was 18.14% in 2001.

The number of buses owned by the public sector was 112.1 thousand in 2006. It decreased by -2.9 thousand as compared to 2001. In percentage terms, the decrease was -2.52%. The share of public sector in total buses owned in India was 11.3% in 2006. The number of buses owned by the public sector was 130.6 thousand in 2011. It increased by 18.5 thousand as compared to 2006. In percentage terms, the increase was 16.5%. The share of public sector in total buses owned in India was 8.14% in 2011.

The number of buses owned by the public sector was 140.2 thousand in 2014. It increased by 9.6 thousand as compared to 2011. In percentage terms, the increase was 7.35%. The share of public sector in total buses owned in India was 7.43% in 2014. The number of buses owned by the public sector was 140.5 thousand in 2015. It increased by 0.3 thousand as compared to 2014. In percentage terms, the increase was 0.21%. The share of public sector in total buses owned in India was 7.13% in 2015.

The number of buses owned by the public sector decreased during the period from 2001 to 2006.  But it increased during the period from 2006 to 2015. The share of public sector in total buses owned in India has declined in successive periods during 2001 to 2015.
