There was a target of 104 Branch Post Offices (BOs) to be opened in India under ‘Rural Business and Access to Postal Network’ scheme during 2017-18. But only 30 (28.85%) BOs opened in India under ‘Rural Business and Access to Postal Network’ scheme during 2017-18 (upto 30/11/2017). The top 5 circles with respect to BOs opened under ‘Rural Business and Access to Postal Network’ scheme during 2017-18 (upto 30/11/2017) were Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Punjab, Tamil Nadu and Telangana.
There were 5 (55.56%) BOs opened during 2017-18 (upto 30/11/2017) in Rajasthan, out of 9 BOs targeted to be opened during 2017-18. The Targets for opening of BOs in Maharashtra was 6 during 2017-18, but BOs opened was 3 (50%) during 2017-18 (upto 30/11/2017). There were 3 (60%) BOs opened during 2017-18 (upto 30/11/2017) in Punjab, out of 5 BOs targeted to be opened during 2017-18.
The number of BOs opened in Tamil Nadu and Telangana was 3 (60%) each during 2017-18 (upto 30/11/2017). Whereas the targets for opening of BOs during 2017-18 was 5 in Tamil Nadu and 5 in Telangana.
