Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY), under which cash assistance is being given to pregnant women for institutional delivery. The numbers of JSY beneficiaries have gone up by 2.7% from 10459547 in 2016-17 to 10739435 in 2017-18 and 10416164 women were benefited during the year 2015-16. The top 5 States/UTs with respect to Beneficiaries under JSY during 2017-18 were Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and West Bengal.
The number of women benefited under JSY in Uttar Pradesh was 3119591 during 2017-18, up by 25.7% against 2482562 during 2016-17. Annual de-growth of -2% has been observed in JSY beneficiaries in Bihar from 1424363 during 2016-17 to 1396203 during 2017-18. The number of women benefited under JSY in Madhya Pradesh was 1031824 during 2016-17. It has increased by 1.1% to 1043310 during 2017-18 over 2016-17.
There were 1020259 and 619981 beneficiaries under JSY in Rajasthan and West Bengal respectively during 2017-18. We have seen annual growth of -4.4% in Rajasthan and 7.2% in West Bengal during 2017-18 above 2016-17.
Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and West Bengal accounted for 29.05%, 13%, 9.71%, 9.5% and 5.77% respectively of the total women benefited under JSY in India during 2017-18.
