Beneficiaries of IGNWPS and IGNDPS from 2009-10 to 2014-15

Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme (IGNWPS) and Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme (IGNDPS) are social sector schemes and form part of the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP) which came into effect from 15th August, 1995. These schemes introduced social assistance for the widows and the disabled respectively and aim at ensuring minimum national standard for social assistance in addition to the benefits that states are currently providing or might provide in future.

The number of beneficiaries reported under IGNWPS was 3213467 in 2009-10. The number of beneficiaries reported under IGNDPS was 699680 in 2009-10.
The number of beneficiaries reported under IGNWPS was 3425390 in 2010-11. It increased by 211923 as compared to 2009-10. In percentage terms, the growth was 6.59% during the period. The number of beneficiaries reported under IGNDPS was 728004 in 2010-11. It increased by 28324 as compared to 2009-10. In percentage terms, the growth was 4.05% during the period.

The number of beneficiaries reported under IGNWPS was 3628467 in 2011-12. It increased by 203077 as compared to 2010-11. In percentage terms, the growth was 5.93% during the period. The number of beneficiaries reported under IGNDPS was 794249 in 2011-12. It increased by 66245 as compared to 2010-11. In percentage terms, the growth was 9.1% during the period.

The number of beneficiaries reported under IGNWPS was 4960887 in 2012-13. It increased by 1332420 as compared to 2011-12. In percentage terms, the growth was 36.72% during the period. The number of beneficiaries reported under IGNDPS was 1090270 in 2012-13. It increased by 296021 as compared to 2011-12. In percentage terms, the growth was 37.27% during the period.

The number of beneficiaries reported under IGNWPS was 6197062 in 2013-14. It increased by 1236175 as compared to 2012-13. In percentage terms, the growth was 24.92% during the period. The number of beneficiaries reported under IGNDPS was 1579246 in 2013-14. It increased by 488976 as compared to 2012-13. In percentage terms, the growth was 44.85% during the period.

The number of beneficiaries reported under IGNWPS was 6333059 in 2014-15. It increased by 135997 as compared to 2013-14. In percentage terms, the growth was 2.19% during the period. The number of beneficiaries reported under IGNDPS was 1087361 in 2014-15. It decreased by -491885 as compared to 2013-14. In percentage terms, the decrease was -31.15% during the period.
