Beneficiaries of Annapurna Scheme from 2002-03 to 2014-15

The Annapurna Scheme had been announced by the Finance Minister in his Budget Speech for the year 1999-2000 to provide food security to those indigent senior citizens who were not covered under the targeted Public Distribution System (PDS) and who had no income of their own. Annapurna is a social sector scheme and forms part of the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP) which came into effect from 15th August, 1995.

The number of beneficiaries reported under Annapurna was 768593 in 2002-03. The number of beneficiaries reported under Annapurna was 1051773 in 2003-04. It increased by 283180 as compared to 2002-03. In percentage terms, the growth was 36.84% during the period. The number of beneficiaries reported under Annapurna was 820075 in 2004-05. It decreased by -231698 as compared to 2003-04. In percentage terms, the decrease was -22.03% during the period.

The number of beneficiaries reported under Annapurna was 853179 in 2005-06. It increased by 33104 as compared to 2004-05. In percentage terms, the growth was 4.04% during the period. The number of beneficiaries reported under Annapurna was 860785 in 2006-07. It increased by 7606 as compared to 2005-06. In percentage terms, the growth was 0.89% during the period. The number of beneficiaries reported under Annapurna was 1041133 in 2007-08. It increased by 180348 as compared to 2006-07. In percentage terms, the growth was 20.95% during the period. The number of beneficiaries reported under Annapurna was 1009792 in 2008-09. It decreased by -31341 as compared to 2007-08. In percentage terms, the decrease was -3.01% during the period. The number of beneficiaries reported under Annapurna was 1015655 in 2009-10. It increased by 5863 as compared to 2008-09. In percentage terms, the growth was 0.58% during the period.

The number of beneficiaries reported under Annapurna was 968419 in 2010-11. It decreased by -47236 as compared to 2009-10. In percentage terms, the decrease was -4.65% during the period. The number of beneficiaries reported under Annapurna was 778682 in 2011-12. It decreased by -189737 as compared to 2010-11. In percentage terms, the decrease was -19.59% during the period. The number of beneficiaries reported under Annapurna was 838914 in 2012-13. It increased by 60232 as compared to 2011-12. In percentage terms, the growth was 7.74% during the period. The number of beneficiaries reported under Annapurna was 780795 in 2013-14. It decreased by -58119 as compared to 2012-13. In percentage terms, the decrease was -6.93% during the period. The number of beneficiaries reported under Annapurna was 928333 in 2014-15. It increased by 147538 as compared to 2013-14. In percentage terms, the growth was 18.9% during the period.
