Average meat yield per goat during 2007-08 to 2011-12

India has witnessed a consistent trend in average meat yield per goat during 2007-2011 and increased in 2012. In 2007-08, average meat yield per goat was 10 kilogram across the country, which increased to 14 kilogram in 2011-12. The lowest average meat yield per goat (5 kilogram) was in Tripura and Lakshadweep in 2011-12 followed by 4 kilogram in Tripura and 5 kilogram in Lakshadweep in 2007-08 as compared to other states.

Twenty two States/UTs Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Orissa, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, West Bengal, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Chandigarh, Delhi, Lakshadweep and Puducherry are below the National average (14 kilogram) in 2011-12.
