Total production of Pulses was 5,84,969 tonne in Tamil Nadu during 2015-16 in 8,87,650 hectare area, hence total productivity was 659 kilogram per hectare for Pulses. Among the various pulses, maximum per hectare productivity was seen in Red gram seen followed by Black gram, Bengal gram, Horse gram, Other Pulses and Green gram in Tamil Nadu during 2015-16.

During 2015-16, per hectare productivity of Red gram was 1,016 kilogram in Tamil Nadu. Production of Red gram was 59,968 tonne in 59,007 hectare area during 2015-16. Per hectare productivity of Black gram was 699 kilogram in Tamil Nadu during 2015-16, with production of 2,76,371 tonne in 3,95,186 hectare area. Per hectare productivity of Bengal gram was 652 kilogram in Tamil Nadu during 2015-16. Production of Bengal gram was 3,176 tonne in 4,876 hectare area during 2015-16.

Per hectare productivity of Horse gram, Other Pulses and Green gram was 588 kilogram, 585 kilogram and 562 kilogram respectively in Tamil Nadu during 2015-16. Production of Horse gram, Other Pulses and Green gram was 44,614 tonne, 66,594 tonne and 1,34,246 tonne respectively.
