Annual Rainfall in Andaman & Nicobar Islands subdivision from 1951 to 2017

No comprehensive trend is visible in annual rainfall in Andaman & Nicobar Islands subdivision during 1951 to 2017. Annual rainfall of 3275.1 mms was there in Andaman & Nicobar Islands subdivision during 1951. It has decreased by -5.96% to 3079.9 mms during 1952 over 1951. We have seen annual growth of 11.5% in annual rainfall in Andaman & Nicobar Islands subdivision from 2763.2 mms during 2000 to 3080.9 mms during 2001. Annual rainfall in Andaman & Nicobar Islands subdivision was 2890 mms during 2017, up by 1.34% versus 2851.9 mms during 2016.

Maximum annual rainfall of 3938.2 mms has been observed in 1961 in Andaman & Nicobar Islands subdivision during the period under consideration. Minimum annual rainfall of 1849.4 mms has been found in 1979 in Andaman & Nicobar Islands subdivision during the period under consideration. In Andaman & Nicobar Islands subdivision, maximum annual rainfall of 3828 mms has been seen in 2011 and minimum annual rainfall of 2538.6 mms has been observed in 2009 during the last 10 years from 2008 to 2017.

Ten years, viz., 1955, 1956, 1961, 1964, 1976, 1980, 1990, 2001, 2004 and 2008 has been seen with maximum monthly rainfall in the month of ‘May’ in Andaman & Nicobar Islands subdivision during the period under consideration. Sixteen years, viz., 1952, 1953, 1957, 1958, 1960, 1968, 1973, 1975, 1981, 1982, 1985, 1989, 1992, 1996, 2009 and 2013 has been found with maximum monthly rainfall in the month of ‘June’ in Andaman & Nicobar Islands subdivision during the period under consideration.
