Anganwadi Centres Hygiene and Sanitation Conditions in Selected State/UTs as on February 2014

The selected states and UTs of India, including the national capital territory of Delhi, had been studied by Programme Evaluation Organisation (PEO) to validate the ICDS MIS data in selected States/UTs of the country on sample basis during the period from December 2013 to February 2014. The observations in respect of hygiene and sanitation conditions of the Anganwadi Centres (AWCs) in the selected States/UTs are depicted in the visualisation and analyzed.

The percentage of AWCs having good hygiene and sanitation conditions in the selected States/UTs studied taken together was 48.2%. The top 10 States/UTs in terms of the percentage of AWCs having good hygiene and sanitation conditions were: Assam, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu, MP, Bihar, Delhi, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Gujarat and Maharashtra.

The percentage of AWCs having good hygiene and sanitation conditions in Assam was 100%. It was 51.8% more than the average of the selected States/UTs studied taken together. Assam was not only the best state in hygiene and sanitation condition of the Anganwadi Centres amongst the selected States/UTs, but also the only state where all the AWCs were observed to have good hygiene and sanitation conditions as per the study conducted by Programme Evaluation Organisation (PEO).

The percentage of AWCs having good hygiene and sanitation conditions in Dadra & Nagar Haveli was 80%. It was 31.8% more than the average of the selected States/UTs studied taken together. The percentage of AWCs having good hygiene and sanitation conditions in Daman & Diu was 80%. It was 31.8% more than the average of the selected States/UTs studied taken together.

The percentage of AWCs having good hygiene and sanitation conditions in MP was 80%. It was 31.8% more than the average of the selected States/UTs studied taken together. The percentage of AWCs having good hygiene and sanitation conditions in Bihar was 76.7%. It was 28.5% more than the average of the selected States/UTs studied taken together.
