Place of Occurrence-wise Property Stolen Cases Reported and its Value under Robbery during 2016

There were 31906 property stolen cases reported under robbery with property value of Rs. 500.7 crores in India during 2016. In terms of Place of Occurrence; Highways/Road had the maximum number of property stolen cases reported under robbery i.e., 17599 (55.16%) during 2016, followed by Other Places, Residential Premises, Commercial Establishments, Running Trains, Religious Places, Bank, ATM and River and Sea. The value of stolen property under robbery at Highways/Road was Rs. 353 crores during 2016.

The number of property stolen cases reported under robbery was 7053 (22.11%) at Other Places during 2016 with Rs. 61.7 crores as stolen property value. The number of property stolen cases reported under robbery was 4280 (13.41%) at Residential Premises during 2016 with Rs. 52.1 crores as stolen property value.

Property stolen cases reported under robbery at Commercial Establishments, Running Trains, Religious Places, Bank, ATM and River and Sea was 1817, 906, 176, 50, 16 and 9 respectively during 2016. The value of stolen property at Commercial Establishments, Running Trains, Religious Places, Bank, ATM and River and Sea was Rs. 20.2 crores, Rs. 4.6 crores, Rs. 1.2 crores, Rs. 7.6 crores, Rs. 0.2 crores and Rs. 0.1 crores respectively during 2016.

Note: Value of Property are in Rs. Crores; Data Inludes Cases of Theft, Criminal Tresspass, Robbery & Dacoity only. However, Other Cases like Chain Snatching (11785 Cases), Snatching (9539 Cases) & Other Properties (7964 Cases) are excluded (covered in Other IPC Crimes); Detailed State-wise information available on NCRB Website.
