The top 10 districts in terms of Percentage of households using improved sanitation facility in Punjab during 2015-16 (NFHS-4) were Jalandhar, Sangrur, Patiala, Moga, Barnala, Bathinda, Faridkot, Fatehgarh Sahib, Kapurthala and Shahid Bhagat Singh Nagar. According to National Family Health Survey (NFHS-4) conducted during 2015-16, Jalandhar was the top district with maximum percentage (89.2%) of households using improved sanitation facility in Punjab followed by Sangrur district with 87.67% and Patiala district with 87.45%.
There were other districts namely Moga, Barnala, Bathinda, Faridkot, Fatehgarh Sahib, Kapurthala, Shahid Bhagat Singh Nagar, Rupnagar and Ludhiana which had 86.88%, 85.54%, 84.96%, 83.68%, 82.97%, 81.83%, 81.62%, 80.85% and 80.75% respectively of households using improved sanitation facility in Punjab during 2015-16.
There were few other districts namely Muktsar, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Firozpur, Hoshiarpur, Mansa and Gurdaspur which had upto 80% of households using improved sanitation facility in Punjab during 2015-16.
