Accidental deaths by Fireworks during 2014

The total number of accidental deaths by fireworks in India was 150 during 2014. The top 10 states/UTs in terms of accidental deaths by fireworks in India during 2014 were: Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Tripura, Bihar and Punjab.

The total number of accidental deaths by fireworks in Odisha was 32 during 2014, which was 21.33% of the total number of accidental deaths by fireworks in India during the year. The total number of accidental deaths by fireworks in Madhya Pradesh was 19 during 2014, which was 12.67% of the total number of accidental deaths by fireworks in India during the year. The total number of accidental deaths by fireworks in West Bengal was 17 during 2014, which was 11.33% of the total number of accidental deaths by fireworks in India during the year.

The total number of accidental deaths by fireworks in Uttar Pradesh was 15 during 2014, which was 10% of the total number of accidental deaths by fireworks in India during the year. The total number of accidental deaths by fireworks in Tamil Nadu was 14 during 2014, which was 9.33% of the total number of accidental deaths by fireworks in India during the year.

In fact, these top 5 states accounted for almost two thirds i.e. 64.66% of the total number of accidental deaths by fireworks in India during 2014.
