State Level Consumer Price Index – January 2015 to July 2015

Consumer Price Index (CPI) measures changes over time in general level of prices of goods and services that households acquire for the purpose of consumption. For construction of CPI numbers, two requisite components are weighing diagrams (consumption patterns) and price data collected at regular intervals. The data refers to State wise Consumer Price Index with base year 2010 =100.

The CPI has been increased in July 2015 as compared to January 2015 in all the states and union territories. The 6 states/uts with highest increase in CPI were Puducherry, Daman and Diu, Lakshadweep, Jharkhand, Odisha and Chhattisgarh.CPI for Puducherry has increased from 120.7 in January 2015 to 132.2 in July 2015, showing an increase of 11.5 points. CPI for Daman and Diu has increased from 122.7 in January 2015 to 131.8 in July 2015, showing an increase of 9.1 points. CPI for Lakshadweep has increased from 115.7 in January 2015 to 123.9 in July 2015, showing an increase of 8.2 points. CPI for Jharkhand has increased from 118.3 in January 2015 to 124.5 in July 2015, showing an increase of 6.2 points. CPI for Odisha has increased from 120.3 in January 2015 to 126.3 in July 2015, showing an increase of 6 points. CPI for Chhattisgarh has increased from 120.9 in January 2015 to 126.9 in July 2015, showing an increase of 6 points.

The 5 States/UTs with lowest increase in CPI were Chandigarh (2.9 points),  Andaman and Nicobar islands (2.9 points), Punjab (2.6 points), Tripura (2.3 points) and Mizoram (1 point).
