Top 10 States/UTs in Estimates of Buffalo (Indigenous and Non-Descript) Milk Production during 2015-16

Estimates of Buffalo milk production in India was 76459.02 thousand tonne during 2015-16, Out of which 55657.41 (72.8%) and 20801.61 (27.2%) thousand tonne milk was from Indigenous Buffalo and Non-Descript Buffalo respectively. Top 10 States/UTs in terms of Estimates of Buffalo milk Production during 2015-16 were: Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar and Telangana.

Buffalo milk production in Uttar Pradesh was 16864.51 thousand tonne during 2015-16, Out of which 14075.14 (83.5%) and 2789.37 (16.5%) thousand tonne milk was from Indigenous Buffalo and Non-Descript Buffalo respectively. It had a weightage of 22.06% of the total Buffalo milk produced in India during the year. Buffalo milk production in Rajasthan was 9937.17 thousand tonne during 2015-16, Out of which 6775.94 (68.2%) and 3161.23 (31.8%) thousand tonne milk was from Indigenous Buffalo and Non-Descript Buffalo respectively. It had a weightage of 13% of the total Buffalo milk produced in India during the year. Buffalo milk production in Punjab was 7814 thousand tonne during 2015-16, Out of which 6261.17 (80.1%) and 1552.83 (19.9%) thousand tonne milk was from Indigenous Buffalo and Non-Descript Buffalo respectively. It had a weightage of 10.22% of the total Buffalo milk produced in India during the year.

Buffalo milk production in Andhra Pradesh was 7444.83 thousand tonne during 2015-16, Out of which 5634.57 (75.7%) and 1810.26 (24.3%) thousand tonne milk was from Indigenous Buffalo and Non-Descript Buffalo respectively. It had a weightage of 9.74% of the total Buffalo milk produced in India during the year. Buffalo milk production in Haryana was 6772.38 thousand tonne during 2015-16, Out of which 5844.89 (86.3%) and 927.49 (13.7%) thousand tonne milk was from Indigenous Buffalo and Non-Descript Buffalo respectively. It had a weightage of 8.86% of the total Buffalo milk produced in India during the year.

These top 5 states accounted for 63.87% of the total Buffalo milk produced in India as a whole during 2015-16.

Buffalo milk production in Gujarat was 6511.97 thousand tonne during 2015-16, Out of which 5248.7 (80.6%) and 1263.27 (19.4%) thousand tonne milk was from Indigenous Buffalo and Non-Descript Buffalo respectively. Buffalo milk production in Madhya Pradesh was 5609.58 thousand tonne during 2015-16, Out of which 1373.95 (24.5%) and 4235.63 (75.5%) thousand tonne milk was from Indigenous Buffalo and Non-Descript Buffalo respectively. Buffalo milk production in Maharashtra was 3832.47 thousand tonne during 2015-16, Out of which 2114.15 (55.2%) and 1718.32 (44.8%) thousand tonne milk was from Indigenous Buffalo and Non-Descript Buffalo respectively.

Buffalo milk production in Bihar was 3209.69 thousand tonne during 2015-16, Out of which 3209.69 (100%) and 0 (0%) thousand tonne milk was from Indigenous Buffalo and Non-Descript Buffalo respectively. Buffalo milk production in Telangana was 3118.12 thousand tonne during 2015-16, Out of which 2054.45 (65.9%) and 1063.67 (34.1%) thousand tonne milk was from Indigenous Buffalo and Non-Descript Buffalo respectively.

The above mentioned top 10 states accounted for 93.01% of the total Buffalo milk produced in India as a whole during 2015-16.
