Milk Production in India from 2000-01 to 2015-16

In India there was milk production of 79651 thousand tonne during the year 2000-01. Out of which 32957 (41.38%) thousand tonne was Cow milk, 43428 (54.52%) thousand tonne was Buffalo milk and 3266 (4.1%) thousand tonne was Goat milk. There was a growth of 4.73% in production of milk in India to 83419 thousand tonne during 2001-02. Out of these 83419 thousand tonne milk production; 34516 (41.38%) thousand tonne was Cow milk, 45402 (54.43%) thousand tonne was Buffalo milk and 3501 (4.2%) thousand tonne was Goat milk. We have seen a milk production growth of 4.73%, 4.55% and 7.2% in Cow milk, Buffalo milk and Goat milk respectively during 2001-02 over the previous year.

There was a growth of 8.64% in production of milk in India from 99348 thousand tonne during 2006-07 to 107933 thousand tonne during 2007-08. Out of these 107933 thousand tonne milk production; 46822 (43.38%) thousand tonne was Cow milk, 56630 (52.47%) thousand tonne was Buffalo milk and 4481 (4.15%) thousand tonne was Goat milk. We have seen a milk production growth of 13.79%, 4.13% and 17.37% in Cow milk, Buffalo milk and Goat milk respectively during 2007-08 over 2006-07.

There was a growth of 6.27% in production of milk in India from 137686 thousand tonne during 2013-14 to 146314 thousand tonne during 2014-15. Out of these 146314 thousand tonne milk production; 66423 (45.4%) thousand tonne was Cow milk, 74710 (51.06%) thousand tonne was Buffalo milk and 5180 (3.54%) thousand tonne was Goat milk. We have seen a milk production growth of 6.8%, 6.06% and 2.61% in Cow milk, Buffalo milk and Goat milk respectively during 2014-15 over the previous year. There was a growth of 6.27% in production of milk in India to 155482 thousand tonne during 2015-16. Out of these 155482 thousand tonne milk production; 73646 (47.37%) thousand tonne was Cow milk, 76459 (49.18%) thousand tonne was Buffalo milk and 5378 (3.46%) thousand tonne was Goat milk. We have seen a milk production growth of 10.87%, 2.34% and 3.82% in Cow milk, Buffalo milk and Goat milk respectively during 2015-16 over the previous year.
