Gender & Education status wise Suicide Victims in India during 2014

In year 2014, there were 131666 suicides committed in All India. Out of 131666 suicides, 89129 suicides (67.7%) committed by male, 42521 suicides (32.3%) committed by female and 16 suicides (0.01%) committed by transgender.

As per education status, there were 9 education statuses namely No Education, Primary (upto class-5), Middle (upto class-8), Matriculate/Secondary (upto class-10), Higher Secondary/Intermediate/ Pre-University (upto class-12), Diploma/ITI/Certificate, Graduate and above, Professionals (MBA; etc.) and Status not known which committed suicides.

In No Education group, there were 18778 suicides committed. Out of 18778 suicides, 11771 suicides (62.7%) were male, 7004 suicides (37.3%) were female and 3 suicides (0.02%) were transgender.

In Primary (upto class-5) Education group, there were 25020 suicides committed. Out of 25020 suicides, 16493 suicides (65.9%) were male, 8527 suicides (34.1%) were female and 0 suicides (0%) were transgender. In Middle (upto class-8) Education group, there were 26566 suicides committed. Out of 26566 suicides, 17831 suicides (67.1%) were male, 8733 suicides (32.9%) were female and 2 suicides (0.01%) were transgender. In Matriculate/Secondary (upto class-10) Education group there were 27002 suicides committed. Out of 27002 suicides, 19076 suicides (70.6%) were male, 7925 suicides (29.3%) were female and 1 suicide (0%) was transgender. In Higher Secondary/ Intermediate/ Pre-University (upto class-12) Education group there were 14428 suicides committed. Out of 14428 suicides, 10079 suicides (69.9%) were male, 4348 suicides (30.1%) were female and 1 suicide (0.01%) was transgender.

In Diploma/ITI/Certificate Education group, there were 1509 suicides committed. Out of 1509 suicides, 1124 suicides (74.5%) were male, 385 suicides (25.5%) were female and 0 suicides (0%) were transgender. In Graduate and above Education group there were 3737 suicides committed. Out of 3737 suicides, 2670 suicides (71.4%) were male, 1067 suicides (28.6%) were female and 0 suicides (0%) were transgender. In Professionals (MBA; etc.) Education group there were 383 suicides committed. Out of 383 suicides, 289 suicides (75.5%) were male, 94 suicides (24.5%) were female and 0 suicides (0%) were transgender.

In Status not known Education group, there were 14243 suicides committed. Out of 14243 suicides, 9796 suicides (68.8%) were male, 4438 suicides (31.2%) were female and 9 suicides (0.06%) were transgender.
