States/UTs with High Per Capita Net State Domestic Product in 2014-15

There were 5 States/UTs having annual per capita Net State Domestic Product (NSDP) at current prices of Rs. 150000 or more in 2014-15 viz. Goa, Delhi, Chandigarh, Puducherry and Haryana.

The per capita NSDP of Goa was Rs. 237929 in 2012-13. It increased to Rs. 274939 in 2014-15, recording total growth of Rs. 37010 (15.56%) as compared to 2012-13. The average annual percentage growth was 7.78% during the period from 2012-13 to 2014-15.

The per capita NSDP of Delhi was Rs. 206407 in 2012-13. It increased to Rs. 252011 in 2014-15, recording total growth of Rs. 45604 (22.09%) as compared to 2012-13. The average annual percentage growth was 11.05% during the period from 2012-13 to 2014-15. The per capita NSDP of Chandigarh was Rs. 180625 in 2012-13. It increased to Rs. 240687 in 2014-15, recording total growth of Rs. 60062 (33.25%) as compared to 2012-13. The average annual percentage growth was 16.63% during the period from 2012-13 to 2014-15.

The per capita NSDP of Puducherry was Rs. 130548 in 2012-13. It increased to Rs. 157219 in 2014-15, recording total growth of Rs. 26671 (20.43%) as compared to 2012-13. The average annual percentage growth was 10.22% during the period from 2012-13 to 2014-15. The per capita NSDP of Haryana was Rs. 122571 in 2012-13. It increased to Rs. 150260 in 2014-15, recording total growth of Rs. 27689 (22.59%) as compared to 2012-13. The average annual percentage growth was 11.30% during the period from 2012-13 to 2014-15.

The dominance of small states and UTs in terms of the high per capita NSDP in the country, leads to the conclusion that the smaller States/UTs are conducive for better economic development and growth opportunities for the people.

Note: Data is as on 29.02.2016; Estimates for the years 2011-12 to 2013-14 have been discussed by CSO with the State DES; The Union Territories of Dadra Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu and Lakshadweep do not compile the estimates of State Domestic Product; NA: Not Available; The States of Sikkim, Tripura and West Bengal have not finalized the estimates of new series with base year 2011-12.
