Exports from Special Economic Zones (SEZs) during 2014-15

Special Economic Zones (SEZs) are designated areas; having different business, trade and labour laws from the rest of India. SEZs are located within the national borders of India. The aims for creating SEZs are increased trade particularly exports, more investment and more job creation etc.

There were 7 states having value of exports from SEZs of more than Rs. 10000 crores in 2014-15 viz. Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.
The value of exports from SEZs in Gujarat was Rs. 179791.75 crores in 2014-15. It decreased by Rs. -45250.25 crores as compared to value of exports from SEZs in Gujarat i.e. Rs.225042 crores during the year 2013-14. In percentage terms, the annual decrease was -20.11% in 2014-15.

The value of exports from SEZs in Tamil Nadu was Rs. 68103.63 crores in 2014-15. It decreased by Rs. -3313.37 crores as compared to value of exports from SEZs in Tamil Nadu i.e. Rs.71417 crores during the year 2013-14. In percentage terms, the annual decrease was -4.64% in 2014-15. The value of exports from SEZs in Maharashtra was Rs. 62535.9 crores in 2014-15. It increased by Rs. 6136.67 crores as compared to value of exports from SEZs in Maharashtra i.e. Rs.56399.23 crores during the year 2013-14. In percentage terms, the annual increase was 10.88% in 2014-15.

The value of exports from SEZs in Karnataka was Rs. 55197.83 crores in 2014-15. It increased by Rs. 3824.95 crores as compared to value of exports from SEZs in Karnataka i.e. Rs.51372.88 crores during the year 2013-14. In percentage terms, the annual increase was 7.45% in 2014-15. The value of exports from SEZs in Telangana was Rs. 37107.89 crores in 2014-15.

The value of exports from SEZs in Uttar Pradesh was Rs. 16516.77 crores in 2014-15. It increased by Rs. 234.35 crores as compared to value of exports from SEZs in Uttar Pradesh i.e. Rs.16282.42 crores during the year 2013-14. In percentage terms, the annual increase was 1.44% in 2014-15. The value of exports from SEZs in Haryana was Rs. 11139.5 crores in 2014-15. It increased by Rs. 2399.07 crores as compared to value of exports from SEZs in Haryana i.e. Rs.8740.43 crores during the year 2013-14. In percentage terms, the annual increase was 27.45% in 2014-15.
