Buses Owned by the Private Sector in India from 2001 to 2015

The number of buses owned by the private sector was 518.9 thousand in 2001. The share of private sector in total buses owned in India was 81.86% in 2001.

The number of buses owned by the private sector was 879.9 thousand in 2006. It increased by 361 thousand as compared to 2001. In percentage terms, the increase was 69.57%. The share of private sector in total buses owned in India was 88.7% in 2006. The number of buses owned by the private sector was 1473.2 thousand in 2011. It increased by 593.3 thousand as compared to 2006. In percentage terms, the increase was 67.43%. The share of private sector in total buses owned in India was 91.86% in 2011.

The number of buses owned by the private sector was 1746.7 thousand in 2014. It increased by 273.5 thousand as compared to 2011. In percentage terms, the increase was 18.57%. The share of private sector in total buses owned in India was 92.57% in 2014. The number of buses owned by the private sector was 1830.3 thousand in 2015. It increased by 83.6 thousand as compared to 2014. In percentage terms, the increase was 4.79%. The share of private sector in total buses owned in India was 92.87% in 2015.

The number of buses owned by the private sector increased consistently during the period from 2001 to 2015. The share of private sector in total buses owned in India has also increased in successive periods during 2001 to 2015.
