Approval for Up-gradation of District Hospitals under National Health Mission in 2015-16

The National Health Mission (NHM) encompasses its two Sub-Missions, the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) and the newly launched National Urban Health Mission (NUHM). The main programmatic components include Health System Strengthening in rural and urban areas- Reproductive-Maternal- Neonatal-Child and Adolescent Health, and Communicable and Non-Communicable Diseases. The NHM envisages achievement of universal access to equitable, affordable and quality health care services.

State Program Implementation Plan (SPIP) Approval for Up-gradation of District Hospitals under National Health Mission in the various States/UTs of India in 2015-16 was worth Rs. 8172.05 Lakhs.

The number of states having SPIP Approval for Up-gradation of District Hospitals under National Health Mission of more than Rs. 500 Lakhs in 2015-16 was six. These six states were Kerala, J & K, Punjab, Assam, Odisha and Karnataka.

The SPIP Approval for upgradation of District Hospitals in Kerala was Rs. 2393 lakhs in 2015-16. It was 29.28% of the SPIP Approval for upgradation of District Hospitals in India in 2015-16. The SPIP Approval for upgradation of District Hospitals in J & K was Rs. 1568.8 lakhs in 2015-16. It was 19.2% of the SPIP Approval for upgradation of District Hospitals in India in 2015-16. The SPIP Approval for upgradation of District Hospitals in Punjab was Rs. 1300 lakhs in 2015-16. It was 15.91% of the SPIP Approval for upgradation of District Hospitals in India in 2015-16.

The SPIP Approval for upgradation of District Hospitals in Assam was Rs. 561.84 lakhs in 2015-16. It was 6.88% of the SPIP Approval for upgradation of District Hospitals in India in 2015-16. The SPIP Approval for upgradation of District Hospitals in Odisha was Rs. 522.75 lakhs in 2015-16. It was 6.4% of the SPIP Approval for upgradation of District Hospitals in India in 2015-16. The SPIP Approval for upgradation of District Hospitals in Karnataka was Rs. 522.03 lakhs in 2015-16. It was 6.39% of the SPIP Approval for upgradation of District Hospitals in India in 2015-16.

The number of states having SPIP Approval for Up-gradation of District Hospitals under National Health Mission of more than Rs. 100 Lakhs in 2015-16 was four. These four states were Tamilnadu, Rajasthan, Mizoram and Maharashtra.

The SPIP Approval for upgradation of District Hospitals in Tamilnadu was Rs. 400 lakhs in 2015-16 (4.89% of All India). The SPIP Approval for upgradation of District Hospitals in Rajasthan was Rs. 310 lakhs in 2015-16 (3.79% of All India). The SPIP Approval for upgradation of District Hospitals in Mizoram was Rs. 212 lakhs in 2015-16 (2.59% of All India). The SPIP Approval for upgradation of District Hospitals in Maharashtra was Rs. 115.19 lakhs in 2015-16 (1.41% of All India).
