Progress under National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM)

National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM) – Aajeevika – was launched by the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), Government of India in June 2011. Aided in part through investment support by the World Bank, the Mission aims at creating efficient and effective institutional platforms of the rural poor, enabling them to increase household income through sustainable livelihood enhancements and improved access to financial services.

NRLM set out with an agenda to cover 7 Crore rural poor households, across 600 districts, 6000 blocks, 2.5 lakh Gram Panchayats and 6 lakh villages in the country through self-managed Self Help Groups (SHGs) and federated institutions and support them for livelihoods collectives in a period of 8-10 years. In November 2015, the program was renamed Deen Dayal Antayodaya Yojana (DAY-NRLM).

The amount of total funds utilised under National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM) since inception was Rs.1983.34 crores as on 31.03.2014. It increased cumulatively to Rs. 4077.1 crores as on 31.07.2015, recording a growth of Rs. 2093.76 crores as compared to 31.03.2014. In percentage terms, the total progress made in total funds utilised was 105.57% during the period between 31.03.2014 and 31.07.2015.

The amount of total credit mobilised under NRLM since inception was Rs.20102.8 crores as on 31.03.2014. It increased cumulatively to Rs. 46073.24 crores as on 31.07.2015, recording a growth of Rs. 25970.44 crores as compared to 31.03.2014.

The amount of total revolving fund (RF) disbursed to Self Help Groups (SHGs) under NRLM since inception was Rs.114.23 crores as on 31.03.2014. It increased cumulatively to Rs. 350.01 crores as on 31.07.2015, recording a growth of Rs. 235.78 crores as compared to 31.03.2014. The amount of total community investment fund (CIF) disbursed to Self Help Groups (SHGs) under NRLM since inception was Rs.140.1 crores as on 31.03.2014. It increased cumulatively to Rs. 693.88 crores as on 31.07.2015, recording a growth of Rs. 553.78 crores as compared to 31.03.2014.

The total number of Self Help Groups (SHGs) promoted under National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM) was 1864742 as on 31.03.2014. Their number increased to 2305513 as on 31.07.2015, recording a growth of 440771 SHGs as compared to 31.03.2014. In percentage terms, the progress made in the number of SHGs between 31.03.2014 and 31.07.2015 was 23.64%.

 The number of predominantly SC Self Help Groups (SHGs) promoted was 285580 as on 31.03.2014. Their number increased to 394041 as on 31.07.2015, recording a growth of 108461 SHGs as compared to 31.03.2014. The number of predominantly ST Self Help Groups (SHGs) promoted was 128885 as on 31.03.2014. Their number increased to 195820 as on 31.07.2015, recording a growth of 66935 SHGs as compared to 31.03.2014.

The number of predominantly Minority Self Help Groups (SHGs) promoted was 81900 as on 31.03.2014. Their number increased to 117177 as on 31.07.2015, recording a growth of 35277 SHGs as compared to 31.03.2014. The number of predominantly PWD Self Help Groups (SHGs) promoted was 19900 as on 31.03.2014. Their number increased to 26764 as on 31.07.2015, recording a growth of 6864 SHGs as compared to 31.03.2014.

The number of Village Organisation (VOs) promoted under National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM) was 119688 as on 31.03.2014. Their number increased to 147567 as on 31.07.2015, recording a growth of 27879 VOs as compared to 31.03.2014.

The total number of Self Help Groups (SHGs) provided Revolving Fund (RF) under National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM) was 84574 as on 31.03.2014. Their number increased to 249921 as on 31.07.2015, recording a growth of 165347 SHGs as compared to 31.03.2014. In percentage terms, the progress made in the number of SHGs between 31.03.2014 and 31.07.2015 was 195.51%.

The number of predominantly SC SHGs provided Revolving Fund (RF) was 16596 as on 31.03.2014. Their number increased to 52495 as on 31.07.2015, recording a growth of 35899 SHGs as compared to 31.03.2014.  The number of predominantly ST SHGs provided Revolving Fund (RF) was 26650 as on 31.03.2014. Their number increased to 68918 as on 31.07.2015, recording a growth of 42268 SHGs as compared to 31.03.2014.

The number of predominantly Minority SHGs provided Revolving Fund (RF) was 7056 as on 31.03.2014. Their number increased to 20608 as on 31.07.2015, recording a growth of 13552 SHGs as compared to 31.03.2014.  The number of predominantly PWD SHGs provided Revolving Fund (RF) was 94 as on 31.03.2014. Their number increased to 2435 as on 31.07.2015, recording a growth of 2341 SHGs as compared to 31.03.2014.

The total number of Self Help Groups (SHGs) provided Community Investment Fund (CIF) under National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM) was 25991 as on 31.03.2014. Their number increased to 123702 as on 31.07.2015, recording a growth of 97711 SHGs as compared to 31.03.2014. In percentage terms, the progress made in the number of SHGs between 31.03.2014 and 31.07.2015 was 375.94%.

The Number of predominantly SC SHGs provided CIF was 4781 as on 31.03.2014. Their number increased to 25668 as on 31.07.2015, recording a growth of 20887 SHGs as compared to 31.03.2014. The Number of predominantly ST SHGs provided CIF was 7168 as on 31.03.2014. Their number increased to 30958 as on 31.07.2015, recording a growth of 23790 SHGs as compared to 31.03.2014.

The Number of predominantly Minority SHGs provided CIF was 1529 as on 31.03.2014. Their number increased to 8565 as on 31.07.2015, recording a growth of 7036 SHGs as compared to 31.03.2014. The Number of predominantly PWD SHGs provided CIF was 10 as on 31.03.2014. Their number increased to 48 as on 31.07.2015, recording a growth of 38 SHGs as compared to 31.03.2014.
